As December rolled around, our chapter had a special opportunity to say thank you to some sailors coming home from a 6 month deployment on a submarine.
Members folded boxes out of calendar pages, colored handmade cards and gathered cookies.
We gathered at Jeni's house to fill those boxes with cookies. Sorry for the poor quality on these pictures, our historian's camera was broken and she had resorted to using her phone...
We filled enough boxes for every sailor on the boat to have one!
What a great and beautiful way to recycle old calendars.
Almost every box also had a handmade card expressing our chapters' sentiments.
The boxes were delivered and piled up on one of the tables on the pier where the boat would pull in, ready to be collected by the sailors as they disembarked.
While the sailors were mostly happy to be home, it was reported that they enjoyed the cookie boxes quite a bit as well!
