Our first meeting of the year- The Tradition of LEI

It's time to start the first meeting. We met on a beautiful day at Denise's house.
One of our sisters finally brought her newest creation for us all to cuddle. The baby was passed many times!

A quick meeting to review the upcoming events for the year and then it was time for snacks on the lanai!
And the baby was passed.
Denise and Jennifer gave a slide presentation about the Hawaiian Tradition of Lei.
Including a demonstration of stinging plumeria for a lei.

We then all got the chance to weave our own ribbon lei, with the instruction and help of Jennifer and Denise. Of course we use the Beta Sigma Phi colors of yellow and black.

A quick easy craft project for all abilities! The first one finished (Judy) was awarded a chocolate lei, the second finisher (Sue) was given the plumeria lei strung earlier.

We all ended up with our own beautiful handmade lei, so we were all winners!
And the baby was passed...

Beginning Day

Alooooooo-HA!
Welcome back for a brand new year of fun and adventures in Sisterhood!
This year started of as always, with a Beginning Day Luncheon held at the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki.

It was our first chance to get caught up with some of our sisters from the summer break and the first public showing of the Scrapbook.

We also got our first look at our new Yearbooks!

It was so good to sit together and share a lovely meal with our sisters from all over the island.

And it was indeed a lovely meal!

There were a few unexpected treasures found along the way. Emily found her mother in one of the books brought in by another sister.

After lunch we shared memories of traditions as well as much laughter.

It was a great day and a great feeling to be back with our sisters again!
Now hold on tight, it's gonna be a fun year!
